Boyd Gaming is thrilled to announce that it was granted an interactive gaming license from the Nevada Gaming Commission last week after the Commission accepted the recommendation of the Nevada Gaming Control Commission.

Boyd owns several casinos in Las Vegas as well as the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Boyd Gaming partnered with the European-based Bwin Party Digital Entertainment group and International Gaming in October 2011 in anticipation of gambling being legalized.

Boyd's Nevada Gaming Commission license will grant the group the right to offer Bwin.Party's poker platform to residents in Nevada as soon as the online poker firm is granted separate licensing as a Nevada service provider.

Although Bwin.Party and MGM have also submitted license applications they have not yet met with gaming regulations.

In terms of the partnership, it will be the first time that Boyd Gaming will be able to offer the sought-after PartyPoker software to customers since PartyPoker left the market in 2006.

According to Jim Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Bwin.party, PartyPoker and the World Poker Tour which is also owned by Bwin.party are expected to attract a huge market share in the U.S. although it will not be the 50 percent share that Party/Poker once had.

Boyd Gaming Executives told the Nevada Gaming Commission that they had decided to partner with an established and experienced company in the online poker industry instead of trying to develop its own software technology or acquire a suitable subsidiary to do the task.  Boyd revealed that BwinParty was chosen by them after evaluating close to 20 potential partners.
